Mrs. Cormier was born in Buffalo, where she worked as a court stenographer before settling in the Washington area around 1970.

She was a member of St. Ambrose Catholic Church in Cheverly, her town of residence.

Her marriage to Joseph D. Cormier ended in divorce. A son, George Cormier, died in 1989.

Survivors include a son, Joseph D. Cormier Jr. of Queensbury, N.Y.; a sister; and three grandsons.
