Palen Flagler, a former advertising executive with J. P. Stevens & Company, died of cancer Friday at Community Hospital in Glen Cove, L.I. He was 72 years old and lived in Brookville, L.I.
Mr. Flagler graduated from Colgate University with a bachelor's degree in history. He became the advertising manager of Nestle Company Inc. in 1950, but left in 1952 to become the director of advertising at J. P. Stevens.
When he retired from Stevens in 1977, he was the corporate vice president in charge of marketing.
He later started Palen Flagler Inc., a telecommunications company that had accounts with several American companies.
Mr. Flagler is survived by his wife, the former Anita Colby.
Services will be held tomorrow at 10:15 A.M. at St. Paul the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Brookville.
