George Calvin Brown was born December 19, 1877, in Oakville, Live Oak County, Texas, to Robert H. Brown and Amanda E Buchanan. He stood 5ft 9in tall, had gray eyes, brown hair and a fair complexion. He married Margaret "Maggie" Brown in about 1903. They had a set of twins and two other children. George was a stockman for J.T. Tigner Ranch in Marfa, Presidio County, Texas. In 1910, he was working as a stock farmer in McMullen County, Texas. He enlisted in the Texas Rangers as a SPECIAL RANGER from March 2, 1918 until October 5, 1918. He resigned to join the Immigration Service. He then was a rancher in Presidio, Presidio County. He again enlisted in the Rangers as a REGULAR RANGER as a private in Co. A. He again resigned and went to work as a ranch hand in Presidio. Enlisting again in the REGULAR RANGERS from October 30, 1920 until October 31, 1923 as a private in Co. A., he resigned and this time for good. In 1930, he was a public health inspector in Presidio. George Calvin Brown died December 8, 1952 in Alpine, Brewster County, Texas. He is buried in the Marfa Cemetery in Presidio, Presidio County, Texas.
