Helen M. Hansen, 61, of 14000 Louis Corners Road, Kiel was called home to be with the Lord. She died peacefully Tuesday morning, September 25, 2007 at St. Mary's Hospital, Mayo Clinic in Minnesota.
Helen was born January 31, 1946 in Plymouth, daughter of the late Herbert & Erna (Knoener) Johanning. Helen was a 1964 graduate of Plymouth High School. On January 14, 1967 she married James Hansen at Saron United Church of Christ in Sheboygan Falls. James and Helen farmed on the family homestead until their retirement in 2004. Helen was a longtime member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in rural Kiel, where she was an active member of the Ladies Aid for 40 years and also a member of the church choir. She also was an active member who served on the Manitowoc Co. Farm Bureau board for 17 years and served as chairperson of the Women's Committee. She was current president of the Wise Women Investors Club. Helen loved to spend time with her grandchildren. She also enjoyed bird watching, collecting dolls, playing cards and watching Brewer and Packer games. Jim and Helen enjoyed traveling in the US and taking cruises.
Survivors include her husband, James of rural Kiel, three sons, Stanley Hanson, Sierra Vista, ZZ, William (Kristine) Hansen, Northfield, MN, Brian (Dawn) Hansen Cascade, one daughter Cheryl (Troy) Brack, Kiel and nine grandchildren. She is further survived by her father-in-law, Charles Hansen, New Holstein, two brothers, Fritz (Jeannie) Johanning, Connie (Kathie) Johanning.
She was preceded in death by her mother-in-law, Grace Hansen.
Funeral services will be held at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Louis Corners, with Rev. Ted Olsen officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery.
