Doris Finley Addison, 76, of Marion, left her earthly home and entered heaven's gates on Monday, January 13, 2014 at The McDowell Hospital. A native of McDowell County, Doris was born on April 9, 1937 to the late Walter Lee and Myrtle Proctor Finley. She retired from Grace Hospital and was a member of Faith Baptist Church. Doris loved her family, and will be remembered for the strength and nurturing that she provided for those she held so dear. She was a true example of her faith and left a legacy that "her children will rise up and call her blessed." Mrs. Finley was preceded in death by her husband, J.D. Addison; a son, Terry Addison; a granddaughter, Michelle Addison and a grandson, Christopher Addison.
Remaining to cherish her memory are a daughter, Sharon Dalton and husband Junior; three sons, Joel Addison and wife Sherry, Jeff Addison, and Les Addison and Wife Sandy, all of Marion. Doris is also survived by a brother, Gary Finley of Loganville, GA, seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Faith Baptist Church with the Rev. Ken Burleson and Rev. T-Jay Addison officiating. Burial will follow in Murphy's Chapel Cemetery.
