Andrew Riley Sr.

Andrew J. Riley Sr., 79, of 1985 Chambersburg Road, Gettysburg, died Monday at Veterans Hospital, Lebanon.
He was born in Gettysburg, the son of the late Charles I. and Cora Hummer Riley. He was a member of St. Francis Xavier Church. He was a veteran of World War II (U.S. Army) and he was a recipient of the purple heart and a campaign ribbon with three bronze stars. He was a life member of the Albert J. Lentz, Post 202 (American Legion), Gettysburg Knights of Columbus, and the Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a self-employed businessman and a highly respected member of the community. He owned and operating (sic) Riley General Store, Seven Stars, more than 40 years.
He is survived by his wife, Myra C. Wike Riley; the following children: Shirley C. Glory, Eatontown, N.J.; Pauline C. Nazariegus, Alexandria, Va.; Elizabeth J. Unger, Orrtanna; Andrew J. Riley, Jr., Pasadena Tx.; Barbara J. Shapiro, Springfield, Va.; March A. Riley, Ft. Bliss, Tx.; Anna Marie Hogan, Gettysburg; Charles T. Riley, Ft. Carson, Colo.; and Diane Riley, York; two brothers: Bernard Riley, San Francisco, Calif.; and Holbert Riley, Gettysburg; a sister, Elizabeth Riley McMaster, Gettysburg; 13 grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning meeting at Monahan Funeral Home in Gettysburg at 10 a.m. to go to St. Francis Xavier Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Father Kenneth F. Lawrence will be celebrant. Interment will be in the church cememtery (sic).
Friends may call at the funeral home Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. with the rosary at 8 p.m.
