Arlene Merritt

Merritt, Arlene J., 68, of Hudson, formerly of Pinellas Park, died Sunday (April 15, 2007) in Hudson. Born in Georgetown, Conn., she moved to Hudson in 1998 from Pinellas Park. She was a buyer for Honeywell Electronics. She was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Clearwater, and the Village Granny Board International (grannies on email). Survivors include her husband, Stephen; two sons, Stephen Jr., New Port Richey, and Darin, St. Petersburg; a daughter, Cynthia Cramer, Medina, Ohio; a brother, Harold A. Johnson, Fairbanks, Alaska; two sisters, Mary Pascale, Pinellas Park, and Ann Bishop, Waterbury, Conn.; and eight grandchildren. Her service was held from Prevatt Funeral Home, Hudson.

Arlene is buried alongside her mother, Florence Johnson, who died shortly before her. Her father, Harold C. Johnson died in 1982.

I met Arlene on the Grandparents Board in iVillage. She was the one to choose our new name, the Grandma Connection. I was fortunate enough to meet her and her husband, Steve, in real life at our first Grannie Gathering. Arlene, we all love you and miss you dearly. Rest in peace with Our Dear Lord, free from pain, until we meet again.

Arlene was the second of our Grannie's to move on to be with Our Lord. She is now reunited with our first loss, Judy Anvik who died on March 5, 2005.

Arlene's dear husband, Stephen, joined her in heaven on August 9, 2017.

Arlene

Born beneath an angels wing
Always soaring high
All her heart in everything
From early morn ‘til dark of nigh

A shining star from heaven sent
This woman we all loved
Returned to heaven now she rests
There with God above

She's resting there above the clouds
And if you listen well
You'll hear her softly whispering
Now in His house, I dwell

I'm in the gentle breeze that blows
And as each new day starts
Know I'm smiling down at you
I'm always in your hearts

We will never forget you, Arlene.
