Margaret Priest Wilkinson, 94, of Cambridge Place, died peacefully in the company of loved ones Nov. 10, 2005, of her self-diagnosed, "dreaded disease" A.G.E. Mrs. Wilkinson, a Norfolk native, was the daughter of the late Fenton Furr Priest and Mary Augusta Bull Priest, both formerly of Norfolk. Mrs. Wilkinson graduated from Farmville State Teachers College (now Longwood) and taught in the Norfolk public schools. She was a longterm member of the Church of the Good Shepherd. As a deeply spiritual person, Margaret found much nourishment in this association and her life reflected the teachings there. She was known for her positive attitude, willing ear, sage advice and indomitable spirit. Her lifelong commitment to the service of others is reflected by her active membership in The Kings Daughters, Junior League and the Garden Club of Norfolk. Being one of the first women Episcopal vestry member in the City of Norfolk is typical of her accomplishments. Examples of her handcraft artistry can be found in the needle point work in use in several local churches. Margaret was predeceased by her husband, William Solomon Wilkinson and her daughter, Margaret Wilkinson Edmondson. She is survived by her sons, William Solomon Wilkinson IV and Fenton Priest Wilkinson; her granddaughters, Susan Edmondson Phillips, Teal Featherston-Wilkinson and Colin Featherston-Wilkinson; grandson, William Pagan Edmondson III; and great-granddaughter, Holland Tabb Phillips. A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. today at the Episcopal Church of the Good Shepherd, 7400 Hampton Blvd., by Bishop Charles Vache. There will be a reception at the church following services. In lieu of flower memorials, donations may be sent to The MS Society, The American Cancer Society or The Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters. H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments, Norfolk Chapel, is handling arrangements.
