In addition to her parents, Ila was preceded in death by her dear husband Edwin Franklin Chenoweth; her brother J.C. Dixon of Shawnee, OK; sisters, Arietta Taylor of Del City, OK, Lois Duncan of Tecumseh, OK, and Vicky Phillips of Ft. Worth, TX. Surviving is her son, Terry Don Chenoweth of Greensboro; and her youngest sister, Refa Hogue of New Orleans, LA.
She was a member of Eller Memorial Baptist Church at 1200 Fourth Street, Greensboro, NC, where friends will be received on Saturday morning, January 11, 2014 beginning at 11:00 am. The homegoing celebration service will follow at noon, and will be led by Dr. Bruce Vaughn. Entombment will follow at Lakeview Memorial Park.
As a member of Eller Memorial, Ila taught a ladies Sunday School class for many years and served on various ministries, especially enjoying working with senior adults.
Having graduated from Lenoir- Rhyne College in 1962, Ila taught English for twenty-seven years, mostly at Southeast Guilford High School. Her favorite extra-curricular activities included the Drama Club and the Young Christian Service Club.
One of her favorite scripture verses was Matthew 19:26, "With God, all things are possible."
