I was born in Craig county, old Virginia, in the year of 1847, June 19th. My parents moved to West Virginia, when I was only three years old and settled on a farm in Raleigh county, near Bickleyville where I grew to manhood. In the year 1873 I went to McPherson, Kansas, and took up government land known as a homestead. In 1880 I was married to Miss Emeline Sweeney in West Virginia. In March we went to Kansas to our new home to grow up with the country. There were four children born to us, three boys and one girl. One girl and boy died in infancy. We moved to Oklahoma in 1899 and settled on a farm near Ames. In 1903 my wife died at the age of 43 years. Four years later I was married to Mrs. Eva Adams in the year of 1907. Henry Caldwell died in 1919. He was 38 years old. This was written by Wm. L. Caldwell the 13th of December 1921, Ames, Oklahoma.

Mr. Caldwell died at his home Oct 29, 1924, at the age of 77 years, 4 months and 9 days. He leaves to mourn his loss his wife, one son, John and wife, two brothers, Chas. R. of McPherson and Paris O. Caldwell of Mound Ridge, Kansas, and a host of friends. The funeral was held at the home on Oct. 30, 1924, and was conducted by Rev. I. C. Patton, an old friend and neighbor.
