Melba Joyce Lasseter Reid, age 80 of Denton, former long time resident of Lewisville, went to be with her Lord Jesus on Tuesday, January 14, 2014, in Denton. She was born June 4, 1933 in Nocona, Texas to Truitt Lasseter and Nellie Mayfield Lasseter. She graduated from Nocona High School in 1950 and Business College in Fort Worth. Melba married Thomas D. Reid on November 17, 1951 in Nocona, moved to Lewisville and spent 43 years together. He preceded her in death on July 12, 1994. They owned and operated Tom Reid Elec. Co. Inc. for nearly 40 years. Melba was a member of First Baptist Church in Lewisville. She is survived by her daughter; two grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Also two sister-in-laws; and nieces and nephews. Melba was preceded in death by her parents, step-father, Virgil Elrod, two sons, Bradley Stephen Reid and John Neal Reid and by two brothers, Charles "Bud" Lasseter and Wayne Lasseter and great-grandson Gavin Thomas Davis.
