Edward Harold Aikens Jr., 35, of Clymer died Thursday, March 27, 2003, at Indiana Regional Medical Center after a two-year battle with glioblastoma multiforme cancer.
He was bom Aug. 25,1967, in Indiana, a son of Edward H. Aikens Sr.
and Audrey E. Sokoly Aikens.
Mr. Aikens was a member of the Alverda Christian Church. A 1986 graduate of Penns Manor High School, he worked at Tale's Supermarket in Clymer as a meat cutter for 15 years.
He was an avid sportsman and loved fishing, hunting and camping. He was a member of the Heilwood Sportsman's Club and served as an honorary member of the Clymer Volunteer Fire Department for more than 15 years.
He is survived by his wife, Brenda Jean (Kelly) Aikens of Clymer, whom he married May 25,1991; a daughter, Noel Janetta-Lynn Aikens, and a son, Adam Francis Aikens, both at home; his parents, of Clymer; his paternal grandmother, Margaret Trinkley of Clymer; his maternal grandparents, William and Emma Sokoly of Wellsboro; his sister, Tammy E. Aikens and her husband, Bill Mock, and then- children Stephanie, Amanda, Ashley and Brandon; his brother, Mike A, Aikens and his wife. Lisa, and their children Michael Jr., Christopher and Heather; his brother, Gary Aikens and his wife, Tammy, and their children Joey and Brianna; and his sister, Emily Aikens, all of Clymer; many aunts, uncles and cousins who loved him; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Leo and Betty Kelly of Starford; and close friends Brian Young, Gary Blazavich and George Federinko.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Albert F. Aikens Sr.; two uncles: Albert E Aikens Jr. and Michael Geneva; and a great- uncle, Pete Gresock.
Friends will be received today from 2 to 8 p.m.
at the Bence Funeral Home in Clymer, where funeral services will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. The Rev. Prewitt Duncan will officiate.
Interment will follow in East Mahoning Cemetery. His family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Edward H.
