Michael A. Pezza FRAMINGHAM

Michael A. Pezza, 84, of St. Patrick's Manor, Framingham, formerly of Longmeadow, W. Barnstable, and Wilbraham, Mass., and Allentown, Pa., died peacefully on January 15, 2014, after a four-year battle with mesothelioma.

Beloved husband of the late Lorraine Konat Pezza for more than 59 years.

Devoted father of Michael A. Pezza, Jr., and his wife Joanne Keating of Waban; Jeffrey S. Pezza and his wife Barbara of Warrenton, Va.; Barbara Pezza Brown and her husband Stuart of Framingham; and Judith Pezza Rasetti and her husband Fabrizio of Salt Lake City, Utah. Loving grandfather of Elizabeth, Claire, and Michael Pezza; Whitney, James, and Hannah Pezza; Evan, Nicholas, Theodore, and Sarah Brown; and Nicholas, Andrew, and Lydia Rasetti. Loving son of the late Andrew Pezza and the late Emilia Pezza (Fucci). Cherished brother of Frances Brazina (Pezza) and her late husband William, and the late Margaret Picoulas (Pezza) and her late husband William. Fond brother-in-law of Henry A. Konat, Jr., and his late wife Barbara (Tackett), of Madison, Va., and Carol Ficarotta (Konat) and her husband Raymond of Morrisville, Pa. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.

Mike served in the U. S. Coast Guard from 1948 through 1951, aboard the USCGC Legare and USCGC Castle Rock, and then attended Pennsylvania State University. He worked in sales and sales management his entire career, ultimately retiring as Sr. Vice President and National Sales Manager of QSP, Inc., and the Catholic Digest School Plan, former fund-raising subsidiaries of the The Reader's Digest Association, Inc. After retiring he engaged in consulting work in the fund-raising industry and volunteered at Cathedral High School in Springfield, Mass.

Mike loved to play golf, read, socialize, meet new people, and spend time with his family. He took special delight in the personalities and accomplishments of his 13 grandchildren. Mike battled his cancer with the same optimistic attitude with which he lived his life.

Visiting hours on Friday, Jan. 17, from 4:30 until 7:30 p.m. at George F. Doherty & Sons Funeral Home, 477 Washington St. (Rt.16), WELLESLEY. Funeral Mass on Saturday, Jan. 18, at 10 a.m. at The Holy Family Chapel at St. Patrick's Manor, 863 Central St., Framingham, preceded by a visiting hour at 9 a.m. in the chapel at St. Patrick's Manor. Interment at Newton Cemetery.
