Peter "Pete" Madison Cheshier Jr., age 91 of Neodesha, Kansas died Friday, February 3, 2012 at the Golden Living Center in Neodesha, Kansas. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at the Christ Church in Neodesha, Kansas under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Altoona Cemetery under the direction of the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Visitation hours will be held from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at the Potts Chapel, 818 Main, Neodesha, Kansas. The family has suggested memorials to the Christ Church Youth Mission's Fund and contributions may be left at the Potts Chapel in Neodesha, Kansas. Peter "Pete" M. Cheshier Jr. was born March 18, 1920 in Monticello, Arkansas to Peter Madison and Ida Mae (Hood) Cheshier. Pete grew up in Monticello, Arkansas and graduated from Monticello High School. Pete then graduated from Arkansas A & M where he and his brother Stanley played football for the wandering bollweevils and were featured in Collier's Magazine. Before entering the United States Army Pete married Frances Simms and they lived in various locations. Frances preceded Pete in death. Pete served in the United States Army during World War II until his honorable discharge. Pete worked in an Aluminum Plant in Arkansas and also worked in Security. Pete later married Ann Waldron and they made their home in Neodesha, Altoona and Thayer. Ann preceded him in death on October 31, 2000. Pete painted signs and mail boxes for many years. He was a past member of the VFW, member of the Christ Church and the Lantern Coffee Club. Survivors include one son Edward "Butch" Madison Cheshier of Dallas, Texas; one brother Dave & wife Peggy Cheshier of Neodesha, Kansas; Step Children Janice Pierce of Altoona, Kansas, Dennis Waldron of Wisconsin, Betty Waggoner of Colorado and Doug Waldron of Dennis, Kansas many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren. Pete was preceded in death by one son Larry David Cheshier; two step children Gary Waldron and Cherol Bryan; and seven siblings.
