Leroy L. Calkins
Leroy L. Calkins passed away suddenly on November 15, 2005 at his home. He was born on December 28, 1917 in Aurora, Illinois. He graduated from East Aurora High School in 1936. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the American Legion and the Montgomery VFW Post #7452. Leroy married Marie Seidelman from Oswego, Illinois on November 2, 1940 and was happily married to her for 60 years. He worked for the Barber-Greene Company in Aurora for 45 years until his retirement in 1981.
His family members include his two daughters, Sandra (Donald) Wulf of Springfield and Patricia (William) Klein of Aurora. He had four grandchildren, Martin (Sandi) Wulf, Mary Lynn (Jeff) Anderson, Trish (John) Stevens and Kimberly (Scott) Osborne. He also had seven great-grandchildren, Caitlyn, Sam and Max Anderson, Lauren and Jonathan Wulf, Nicholas Osborne and Marissa Stevens.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Marie; his parents, Louis and Lena (Grim) Calkins; and one sister, Helen Jungles.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, November 18, 2005 at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 S. Broadway, Montgomery. The family will greet guests on Friday from 9:00 AM until the time of services at the funeral home in Montgomery. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 420 W. Downer Pl, Aurora, IL 60506 or to the charity of donor's choice.
