Samuel W. Bairds parents were Nancy Agnes Robinson Baird and James Baird, from the Chester-Fairfield S.C. area.

In the 1860 census record he is living with his Widowed Mother Nancy (72), his SISTER Evaline (35), his brother John A. (48), his brothers children, Mary I. (13) and James (15) and his own children from his previous marriage before he was divorced, James (6) and William (7). He can be found in the 1850 census with his mother Nancy and his then wife N.C. (Nancy Cathcart Baird) in Fairfield. The name is misspelled as Beard.
His brothers James Robinson Baird, John A. Baird and sister Evaline Baird can are buried at Hoschton Cemetery in Jackson Co.
