Pedro G. Abalos, , 60,of Las Cruces, NM died Tuesday, November 20, 2007 at Mesilla Valley Hospice-La Posada. He was born April 21, 1947 in Las Cruces, NM to Frank and Josefina Gamboa Abalos. Pete was retired from the City of Las Cruces as a Water Production Maintenance Foreman. He was also a member of the Catholic Church. In retirement, he enjoyed sports car restoration and partook in many car shows throughout Las Cruces. Pete Abalos was a past member of Los Leones de Mesilla. His family wrote: generosity and dedication were an inspiration to his family. He gave us a wonderful life. He dedicated his life to give us unconditional love, guidance and understanding. You will truly be missed and loved. He is survived by his wife, Guadalupe, of the family home; one daughter, Veronica Lerma and her husband Manny of Las Cruces, NM; three brothers, Ricardo Abalos of Phoenix, AZ; Frank Abalos and Santiago Abalos both of Las Cruces, NM; and one sister, Rosalia Abalos of Las Cruces, NM. His parents, Frank and Josefina Abalos, preceded Pete in death. Visitation will be from 5 to 7 PM on Sunday, November 25, 2007 at Getz Funeral Home Chapel where the Prayer Vigil will follow at 7 PM. The Funeral Liturgy will be at 10 AM on Monday, November 26, 2007 at St. Genevieves Catholic Church with Fr. Carlos Espinoza officiating. The Rite of Committal and burial will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery. Serving, as pallbearers will be Manny Lerma, Luis Adolfo Gonzalez, Bobby Soto, Gilbert Nevarez, Jacob Nevarez, and Manuel Gamboa. The VFW Post 3242 on Mesquite St. will be available after the burial for family and friends to reunite.
