Lonnie Ray Whitaker, age 77, of Portland, passed away March 25, 2012. He was born in Sumner County on October 4, 1934, to the late Jordan and Birtie Whitaker. Lonnie is survived by his wife, Katherine Ruth Whitaker; son, Ray (Tammy) Whitaker; daughter, Jane (Danny) Ragland; sister, Lola Adams; grandchildren, Jason (Callie) Whitaker, Heather Ragland, Mark Ragland, Lindsay (Kevin) Adams; great grandchildren, Copelynne, Jaycee, and Jaxon Whitaker, Branley Corlew, Mattellen Colgate, and Hayden Adams. Visitation is 4 p.m., until 8 p.m., Monday, March 26, 2012, and 12 noon until 8 p.m., Tuesday. Funeral service is 11 a.m., Wednesday, March 28, 2012, at Wilkinson & Wiseman Funeral Home with Bro. Mike Brady officiating. Interment is at Halltown Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in his memory to Halltown General Baptist Church, 120 Dink Rut Rd., Portland TN 37148.
