Cleo, 77, was a former resident of the Brighton area. He passed away at Swedish Medical Center from an apparent heart attack. Born to Robert Lincoln Thurtell of Kingsley, IA and Sylvia Ann Pierson of Laural, NE. After graduating from Akron High School, he enlisted in the US Navy, returning to Colorado in 1960. Cleo worked in the Production side of the Oil and Gas Industry. He spent several years as a self-employed entrepreneur with Dale's Wireline and Double D Services, as well as working for Welex prior to that as an Area Manager.

He was proceeded by nine Siblings and by daughter Beverly Thurtell Wilbon of Richmond, VA. Survivors included his wife of 29 years, Donna Marie Gabel Thurtell; children John Edward Thurtell and wife Samantha of Loveland, Robert Dale Thurtell of Brighton and Janice Lynn Thurtell Maack and husband Gary of Greeley; their mother Frances L. Thurtell of Brighton; four step-children, Bryan Tway and wife Nancy of Longmont, Gennie Tway Formby of Longmont, Nancy Tway Edwards and husband Miles of Denver, and Laurie Tway Stewart and husband David of Elizabeth; Grand Children Kari Shie, Kevin Wilbon, Jason Thurtell, Melissa Dymond, Nicole Thurtell, Tiffany Gautier, Amanda Boshell, Justin Baumgartner, Kayla Tway, Adam Tway, Lauren Tway, Phillip Formby, Elaina Formby, Brent Edwards, Tara Edwards, Jacob Stewart, Tracy Stewart.

Memorial Services held December 19 at Tabor-Rice Funeral Home in Brighton.
