MANTER — Coy Wayne Adams, 84, of Manter, died Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at Satanta Long Term Care Unit in Satanta.

He was born June 3, 1929, in Bradleyville, Mo., to Simon Lee and Georgia Pauline Gray Adams.

Mr. Adams had been a resident of Manter since 1946. In 1994, he retired as Manter city superintendent after 15 years of service.

On Aug. 27, 1947, he married Martha McCandless in Clayton, N.M. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Shirley Weisz of Garden City; two sons, Troy Adams of Johnson City, and Craig Adams of Hooker, Okla.; seven grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Larry Wayne; five brothers, Forrest, Virgil, Raymond, Roy and Carl; and a sister, Dorothy Scribner.

Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Manter. Burial will follow at Stanton County Cemetery in Johnson City. (Obit: Garden City Telegram)
