Walter A. Mikeska, Jr., of White Hall left peacefully in the arms of his Lord on Saturday, January 11th at M.D. Anderson Hospital in Houston. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 am Thursday, January 16th at Nobles Funeral Chapel with interment at Fairview Cemetery in White Hall. The Rev. Henry Sanders will officiate. Arrangements are under the direction of Nobles Funeral Chapel. Walter entered this world on Saturday, September 3, 1949 to Walter Anthony Mikeska and Shirley (Landry) Mikeska in Napoleonville, Louisianna. Walter loved his God, his family, friends and his country. He served his beloved country as a Corporal in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1968 – 1971. During that time, he proudly earned the Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, two Purple Hearts, Vietnam Service Medal with one star, the National Defense Service Medal and the Navy Commendation Medal with combat "V". He loved country life, enjoying target and skeet shooting, riding horses, watching football and relaxing in his hot tub. He is survived by his loving wife, Sharon of White Hall and four beautiful daughters, Andi Mikeska and Mark Bolin of Cypress; Melissa Mikeska of College Station; Lauren and Chris Motal of Katy; and Lacey Dunn and Brant Haynes of Houston; two sisters, Kay and Ted Roush of Schulenberg and Barbara and Charles Childress of Salt Lake City, Utah; two brothers, Harry Mikeska of Houston and David and Jenny Mikeska of Brookshire. He leaves a legacy to five grandchildren, Zariah Wallace, Isaiha Mikeska, Mathew Ryall, Malachi Banks and Amare Banks. Walter was preceded in death by his parents. Pallbearers are Chris Motal of Katy, Brant Haynes of Houston, Mark Bolin of Cypress, Samuel Beeman of Austin, Robert Donaho of Houston and Nick Syzdek of Chappell Hill.
