Mr. Gambill was a native of McMinn County, Tenn. He was a electronic technicians with NASA. He formerly served with the U.S. Air Force. He was an elder of Reedswood Christian Church, Gloucester.
Survivors include his wife, Ilona G. Gambill of Saluda; two daughters, Mrs. Christy Silvis of Gloucester and Mrs. Amanda Gambill of Saluda; a son, John R. Gambill Jr. of Hampton; and two brothers, Max Gambill of Athens, Tenn., and Don Gambill of Calhoun, Tenn.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Lebanon Church of Christ, Lee Hall, by Elder Irving Lillard and the Revs. Douglas Smith and Larry Weese. Burial will be in the Bellamy United Methodist Church Cemetery, Gloucester.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. tonight in Weymouth Funeral Home.
The family requests that expressions of sympathy take the form of contributions to Reedswood Christian Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 1079, Gloucester, Va. 23061.
