Friends are invited to attend a funeral service on Friday, August 3, at 10 a.m., at Richard Pierce Funeral Service in Napa for Burton Douglas Cannell Sr., 86, of Napa. He died Sunday, July 29, at a local hospital. Born Nov. 11, 1914, in Grand Junction, Colo., he has been a Napa County resident for 48 years. Mr. Cannell was a contractor for over 65 years, and loved to fish and dance. He was a member of I.O.O.F. Napa #18, and I.O.O.F. #187 in St. Helena. He was a 50 year member of the Odd Fellows, a former Noble Grand, and Deputy Grand Marshall. He was also a member of the Rebekah Lodge #23 of Napa; Yount Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons #12 of Napa (for 41 years), four-time Past Patron of Silver Spray Order of the Eastern Star #59 of Napa, and Rainbow Dad who served on the Board of Rainbow Girls. He holds that organization's Grand Cross of Color.He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Beulah; sons, Burton Cannell Jr., of Napa and Darwin Cannell of Montrose; daughters, Dorna Bashor of Napa and Dottie Tolkmit of Santa Rosa; stepdaughters, Donna Mai Martin of Sonoma, Glenda Babineau of Stockton and Carol Thames of Napa. He is also survived by sister, Pauline Doig of Vallejo; 21 grandchildren, 43 great-grandchildren and seven great great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brother, Merlin; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.A visitation will be held at Richard Pierce Funeral Service on Thursday, Aug. 2, from 12 to 8 p.m. A reception will follow at the Masonic Family Center in Napa.His family has asked that memorial contributions be directed to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Sacramento. He will rest at Tulocay Cemetery. Arrangements are under the direction of Richard Pierce Funeral Service.

Gravesite Details

Burton Douglas Cannell Sr was cremated and placed in the Tulocay Mausoleum. When his wife Beulah Cannell passed away, she too was cremated and they are forever together.
