Adam Bragg, Who Often Walked to Beckley, Was Eighty-Five
Walking 25 miles to Beckley wasn’t an unusual feat for 85-year-old Adam Bragg, who died at his home near Pear last week, A.B. Redden, a neighbor said today.
Bragg was active until a short time before his death. About a month ago, Redden said, he saw Bragg walking to town. Then Bragg got the flu and pneumonia developed.
He spent his life on the same farm his father staked off before the Civil War. Bragg had a host of friends and relatives.
His wife preceded him to the grave several years ago. Sons and daughters surviving include: S. A. Bragg, of Pear; Fletcher Bragg, of New; Hayes Bragg, of Beckley; Lon Bragg, of Pluto; Mrs. Sadie Kincaid, of Beaver; Mrs. Esta Bragg, of New. He had 47 grandchildren and 29 great grandchildren.
