WEST POINT - Clarence Edward Gilchrist, son of the late Mack and Della Smith Gilchrist, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Jones and Mary Thorpe, and a brother, John 'Buster' Gilchrist. Clarence is survived by two sisters, Beatrice Barber and Doyce Gilchrist of New York; one brother, George Gilchrist of New York; one brother-in-law, Charles Thorpe of West Point; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Viewing will be from 1 to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at the funeral home. A service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, at Mount Nebo Baptist Church, West Point, with Dr. Leo C. Wagner officiating. Burial will be at Sunny Slope Cemetery. Professional services entrusted to Forrest Funeral Home, West Point.
