HAMPTON - James Thomas 'Jimmy' Norris was called home to glory on Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at the Hampton Veterans Affairs Hospice Center. Jimmy was born Feb. 2, 1925, in Warwick County to William and Winnie Norris who preceded him in death. He had five brothers and sisters who also preceded him in death. Jimmy was a very proud American who served in World War II. He was a retired longshoreman, a member of the NAACP, a Mason (Jeremiah) and a member of Pandora Lodge 2. He is survived by his wife, Andrewl Norris; two daughters, Denise Johnson (Albert) and Marilyn Buggs (Vid) of Hampton; one brother, Thomas Norris of Washington, D.C.; two stepdaughters, Marilyn Everson and Andrea Stephens of Newport News; seven grandchildren, Wesley Everson of Newport News, Albert L. Johnson (Theresa) of St. Petersburg, Fla., Tanesha Mayo of Columbia, Md., April Johnson-Thompson of Hampton, Alesia Sargent (Earl) of Williamsburg, Vid Buggs Jr. and Victoria Buggs of Hampton; 10 great-grandchildren; one nephew; cousins and friends. Funeral services will be noon Saturday, Nov. 19, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel with Pastor Benjamin H. Jeter III officiating. Family and friends are asked to gather at 11 a.m. at 3300 Candlewood Drive, Hampton. Burial will follow in Hampton Memorial Gardens. Viewing will be from noon to 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 18, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel. The family of Mr. James T. Norris expresses sincere thanks to VA Hospice Center, Personal Touch Home Care, House of Refuge Worship Center, Ms. Carolyn Jones and Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel.
