Shirley A. Anderson, age 94, formerly of 1806 29th St., Two Rivers, died peacefully with her daughter at her side, on Sunday, Aug. 29, 2010, at the Hamilton Care Center.

Shirley was born on Nov. 6, 1915, in Two Rivers, daughter of the late Albert and Rose (Hasheck) Althen. Shirley graduated from Washington High School with the class of 1932.

Shirley was the secretary of J. F. Magee School for 22 years retiring in 1983. She was always involved with music. She
was a member of the High School Band and accompanied many soloists. She had been a member of the Carmen Chorus, Meckelberg Ensemble, and Monday Music Club. Shirley had been organist at St. John's United Church of Christ and First Reformed United Church of Christ of Manitowoc and Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, Two Rivers. She studied piano with Catherine Goeler, Melvin Kitzerow, and Milton Detjen. She was a vocal student of Mary Pherson of Manitowoc and LeBaron Austin of Green Bay. Shirley was a dedicated church member of Grace Congregational Church, where she served on many boards, was the financial secretary for 28 years, retiring in 2001, belonged to the choir, was a soloist and was a member
of the Women's Fellowship. She also delivered Meals on Wheels for many years.

In addition to her parents, Shirley was also preceded in death by one son: George A. Anderson; and one sister: Caroline Althen Shebesta.

Funeral services will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 1, 2010, at Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, 2801 Garfield St., Two Rivers. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Kim Henning and the Rev. Meredith Thurk. Burial will be at Pioneer Rest Cemetery, Two Rivers, on Thursday morning at 9 a.m.
The family will greet relatives and friends at Grace Congregational U.C.C. on Wednesday afternoon from 4:30 p.m. until the time of service at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Grace Congregational United Church of Christ or a charity of your choice.
Deja & Martin Funeral Chapels, 1506 18th St., Two Rivers, is assisting the Anderson family with funeral arrangements.
Shirley's family would like to extend a special thank you to all the staff at the Hamilton Care Center and (private) for the compassionate care given to her while she was at the Center. They would also like to thank all of her friends
who visited with her during her last years at home and while at the Care Center.
