Wilbert Roland Dill, age 78, of 8602 Highway 42, Newton, entered eternal rest Monday, April 25, 2005, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc, surrounded by his family.

Funeral services will be held Thursday (TODAY), April 28, 2005 at 11 a.m. at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Newton, with the Rev. Kyle Sorensen officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Wilbert was born Aug. 2, 1926. He was the son of the late Otto Dill and Esther (nee Stock) Dill. He grew up in the Newton area. Wilbert was a graduate of Lincoln High School with the class of 1943 and attended the Mission House for 2 ? years.

On June 11, 1949, he married Shirley Grosshuesch at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church. Wilbert and Shirley farmed in Newton until their retirement in 1991. After retiring, he filled his time with farming, visiting family and working part-time. Wilbert was a life long member of Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church in Newton. He was active in the church, participating in the adult Bible class, church choir and consistory. He was a member of the Manitowoc Marine Band for more than 25 years.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years: Shirley Dill, Newton; five children and 10 grandchildren: Daniel (Janice) Dill and Emma of Manitowoc; David (Heidi) Dill and Joshua and Sara, Rochester, N.Y.; Thomas (Esther) Dill and Sarah (Jay) Carr and Andrew Dill, Newport News, Va.; Sharon (John) Wallander and Aaron (fiancee, Laura Johnson), Seth and Allison Wallander, Valders; Steven (Lori) Dill and Adam and Alex Dill, Green Bay; stepbrother and stepsister-in-law: Lynn (LaVonne) Dill, Mott, N.D.; stepsister: Ruth Smith, Alameda, Calif.; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law: Beatrice Jost; Marlys (Eugene) Schwantz; William (Barbara) Grosshuesch, all of Manitowoc; along with other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents preceding him in death, there is also his stepfather: Albert Dill; infant brother: Erwin; sister and brother-in-law: Lucinda (Elroy) Borgwardt; brother-in-law: Harold Jost; and two grandchildren: Christopher Dill and Jacob Dill.

Relatives and friends called at Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church, Newton, on Wednesday, April 27, 2005 from 5 to 8 p.m. and on Thursday (TODAY), from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at 11 a.m.

Memorials may be made in Wilbert's name to the Salem Ebenezer Reformed Church Memorial Fund.

The Harrigan Parkside Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 628 N. Water St., Manitowoc, is assisting the family with funeral arrangements.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided the last days of Wilbert?s life.
