Laymon A. Allgood, 88, of Cape Girardeau died July 28, 2005 at the Lutheran Home. He was born March 19, 1917 near Sank, MO, son of Joseph and Mae (Eaker) Allgood. He and Helen Henraetta Eaker were married June 29, 1940 near Sank. She died Oct. 25, 2004.
Mr. Allgood was a member of Grace United Methodist Church and served in various offices. He was a member and first worshipful master of Harold O. Grauel Masonic Lodge 672, 33rd degree member of Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite, member of York Rite, served the Grand Lodge as district deputy grand lecturer and district deputy grand master, and was secretary of Capaha Scottish Rite Club more than 25 years.
He was an investigator with the Counter Intelligence Corps of the U.S. Army during World War II.
Survivors include two sons, Richard and Roger Allgood of Cape Girardeau; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill, MO Sunday, and at Grace United Methodist Church on Monday. A Masonic service will be held Sunday. The funeral will be Monday at Grace Church, with the Rev. Scott Moon officiating. Graveside service will be at Dry Creek Cemetery near Marble Hill, with full military honors by Missouri Military Honors Team and American Legion Post 63.
