Wes was a farmhand, service station owner, cheese maker, and a police officer. He was also the best fisherman on the Wisconsin River. He ruled the river from childhood until the very end (he didn't go too often from the nursing home though). He also enjoyed playing with his tractors and hunting. His diet mostly was fried catfish. Sometimes they would have squirrel, turtle, or deer. He also loved fried chicken and beef roasts. He was also quoted saying "if there aren't meat and potatoes on the table, you don't have to pray."

1969 he started doing volunteer work for Crawford County Sheriff. In 1971 he was hired as a jailer and radio dispatch. Later he was promoted to Highway Officer.

The last years of his life he struggled with complications from diabetes and strokes.

This memorial was the combination of two, one created by Elaine the other by J Anderson the two memorials merged to create this one.
