Frederick L. Fisher, age 73, of the town of Liberty, died Thursday morning, January 23, 2014, at his residence.
Fred was born July 5, 1940, in Manitowoc, son of Ruth Orabelle (Klessig) Fisher and the late Lawrence G. Fisher. He attended Trinity Lutheran School and graduated from Valders High School with the class of 1958. Fred attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison taking a short course on Agriculture. He served in the Army National Guard from 1959 until 1965. On July 29, 1972, he married Ilona K. Seiy at Trinity Lutheran Church in the town of Liberty. Fred farmed Flowerdale Farms from 1958 - 1995 and also worked for Krueger Lumber Company as a log trucker. Most recently he worked as a trucker for Otto Sand and Gravel in the town of Liberty. He was a member of the Manitowoc County 4H, Valders FFA, Past Chairman of Lake to Lake Dairy Coopertive, Past President of Valders Elevator Coopertive, past president of the Wisconsin Milk Marketing Board, a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where he served as President of the Congregation and St. John's Lutheran Church in Newtonburg, serving on the Board of Elders. Fred played semi pro football with the Manitowoc Chiefs and catcher for numerous fast pitch softball teams in Manitowoc County. Fred also coached varsity football at Valders High School. He was named honorable mention for the Lakeshore All Sports Hall of Fame. Fred was also a member of the Viking Bow and Gun Club and the Viking Snowriders Club. He enjoyed farming, hunting with his dogs, movies, watching the Green Bay Packers, traveling, tractor pulls and especially loved being with his children and grandchildren. Fred had strong faith and his church meant very much to him.
Survivors include his wife, Ilona Katherine, Valders; his mother: Ruth Orabelle Fisher, Valders; two daughters and sons-in-law: Julie and John Rader, Wauwatosa, and their children: Ethan and Eden Rader; Erika and Paul Chute, Meridian, ID, and their children: Alex and Anna; two sons and one daughter-in-law: Daniel and Tracy Fisher, School Hill, and their children: Kendall, Karris, Reese and Dayne; Andrew Fisher, Clarks Mills, and his children: Cole and Austin; and their mother: Jamie Fisher; brother and sister-in-law: Gerald and Deborah Fisher, Appleton; sister and brother-in-law: Kay and Terry Klungseth, Orlando, FL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law: Emery and Karen Seiy, Kaukauna; sister-in-law: Ava Ulness, Valders. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and special friends also survive.
He was preceded in death by his father: Lawrence G. Fisher; grandparents: Harlan and Elsie (Horstmann) Fisher, Edwin and Elvina (Kammann) Klessig; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Julius and Theresa (Magyera) Seiy, brother-in-law: Walton Ulness; uncles, aunts and cousins.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m.,Wednesday, January 29, 2014, at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church in Newtonburg, 7531 English Lake Road, Manitowoc. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Victor Headrick. Burial will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, town of Liberty.
The family will greet relatives and friends on Tuesday, January 28, 2014, at St. Johns Ev. Lutheran Church 7531 English Lake Road, Manitowoc, from 2:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, January 29, 2014, from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m.
