Kathleen Jamison Abell, 91, of Salem, passed from this life on Saturday, March 2, 2013 to the home of her Savior. Kathleen was born on September 23, 1921, in Wirtz, to the late Alvin D. and Evelena Jamison. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Beverly R. Abell; brother, John P. Jamison; and sons, Edwin R. Abell and Jerald R. Abell Sr. To all who knew her, Kathleen will be remembered as a kind and loving friend and neighbor. She loved taking pictures of everyone on any occasion. She enjoyed her family, loved flowers, and was an avid NASCAR fan. She was a longtime member of the Raleigh Court United Methodist Church. Kathleen is survived by her son, Barry Stanley and wife, Jenny, of Roanoke; daughters, Dana Dunbar, of Salem, and Patricia Nichols and husband, Steve, of Lakeland, Fla.; brother, Alvin Jamison and wife, Anne, of Dallas, Texas; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and daughter-in-law, Melinda Abell, of Montvale. Numerous nieces and nephews also survive. The family would like to thank the staff of Richfield Recovery and Care Center for the care and kindness given to Kathleen. The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 7, 2013, from 6 until 8 p.m. at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home in Salem. A funeral service to honor Kathleen''s life will be conducted at 2 p.m. on Friday, March 8, 2013, in the funeral home''s chapel with Chaplain Tom Clay officiating.
