On December 14, 1968 he married Eunice J. Braun at St. Phillip Catholic Church, Green Bay. In 1971 they purchased a small family dairy farm near Menchalville where they raised their children and taught them the value and rewards of working hard and being responsible. In later years, Roman focused on cash cropping and growing vegetables for farmers' markets until he and Eunice retired completely from farming and moved to Manitowoc in 1999. Roman was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Kellnersville for almost 30 years, later becoming a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Manitowoc. Roman was an avid reader and enjoyed watching Brewers' baseball and having breakfast with his "cronies" at Equity in Reedsville.
Roman is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years: Eunice; his daughters: Carla (Terry) Halvorson and Barbara Grzywinski (Bart Welsh); five grandchildren: Ryan & Nick Grotegut, Alyssa Halvorson, and Harper & Aubrey Welsh; one brother, Chester (Geraldine) Grzywinski; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Wallace & Violet Braun; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Doreen; his brothers: John, Andrew, Peter, Stanley Jr & Leo; his sisters: Johanna, Marianna & Irene; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Walter & Dorothea (Reimer) Braun; and brothers-in-law and sister-in-law: Leland Braun and Gerl & Judy Braun.
Burial will be in the Garden of Honor at Knollwood Memorial Park, 1550 Hwy 310, Manitowoc, with graveside military honors accorded by VFW Otto-Oas Post # 659 of Manitowoc,
