Ernest Johnson , 79, Walum, died Friday, Aug. 25, 1995, at home.

Ernest Joseph Johnson was born Nov. 19, 1915, in Highland, Minn., the son of Erick and Julia (Gilbertson) Johnson. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He married Marion Doele Jan. 27, 1973, in Hannaford, N.D. A lifelong farmer, he was director and past president of the Farmers Elevator in Hannaford, N.D.

He is survived by his wife, Hannaford; sons, Preston, Hibbing, Minn., Gary, Detroit Lakes, Minn., and Herbert, Fargo; daughters, Pamela (Mrs. Mark) Strawn, Apple Valley, Minn., Stephanie (Mrs. Laird) Lind, Hickory Creek, Texas, and Claudia (Mrs. Paul) Mlingar, Wadesville, Ind.; 13 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; four nephews; and one niece.

He was preceded in death by brothers, George and Alvin; and sisters, Ida Overland, Amerlia Wold and Thelma Campbell.

Services:2:30 p.m. Monday in St. Olaf Lutheran Church, Walum. Visitation:1 to 7:30 p.m. Sunday, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, in Quam-Plaisted-Cushman Funeral Home, Cooperstown, N.D., and one hour before services in the church.
