This is NOT Malone George Mullins who died 24 Dec 1875 in Rutherford, Tennessee. This is L. Malone Mullins, son of Francis Fowler Mullins and Sarah Cotton, who died in 1913 near Starkville, Mississippi.

In May 1862, Malone Mullins and his brother, Allen Mullins, enlisted in Company E, 31st Mississippi Regiment for service with the Confederate States Army. This was the same company in which their older brother David had enlisted in March 1862. They served under Col. Orr with Company E, 31st Mississippi Regiment from Choctaw County, Mississippi. David died at the Battle of Baton Rouge in August 1862 while Allen died in August 1863 of gunshot injuries sustained several months earlier at the battle of Snyder's Bluff (April 29 - May 1, 1863) near Vicksburg, Mississippi. Malone was with the 31st Mississippi during the siege and surrender of Vicksburg (May 18 - July 4, 1863). He was the only brother to survive the war. In 1909 Malone applied for and was approved for a Confederate pension in Oktibbeha County, Mississippi, based on his service with Company E, 31st Mississippi. Also see:
