Robert James (Bob) Hinman, 88, of Albany, GA, formerly of Binghamton, NY, died January 23, 2014 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 29, at 6:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Eric Newman will officiate. Interment will follow at Glenwood Cemetery in Lockport, NY.

A native of Lockport, NY born to the late Howard D. and Edith Dobbins Hinman, he had resided in Albany, GA for the past four years to be close to his family. He was a World War II Army veteran and served in the Pacific Theatre.

Mr. Hinman graduated from Rochester Institute of Technology and was employed with Ansco Film Corporation as a governmental sales representative for many years. He continued his career with Broome County, NY and retired as a supervisor with Disaster Services. He was an avid magician, a photographer, an award winning marksman and a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include four nephews, Ray (Elaine) Hinman and Bobby (Lou) Hinman both of Albany, GA, Eddie (Debbie) Hinman of Brunswick, GA and Paul (Donna) Rathke of Vancouver, British Columbia, a niece, Susie (Danny) Gardner of Albany, GA and he was preceded in death by his siblings, Lewie Hinman, Ed Hinman and Peg Rathke.

The family will receive friends Wednesday one hour before the funeral at Mathews Funeral Home.
