Joe E. Pruitt, 93, died Monday, Jan. 27, 2014, at his Hinesville residence under care of Savannah Hospice. A native of Calhoun, Ala., Mr. Pruitt lived in Hinesville for 57 years and was retired from civil service. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean conflict. He was a member of Live Oak Church of God and recently attended Trinity Baptist Church.He is survived by his daughters, Evelyn Westmoreland of Greenville, S.C., Eddie Ruth Robbins of Hinesville, Elverta Strickland of Munsford, Ala., and Pat Grubbs of Talladega, Ala; 11 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 31, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel. His funeral will at 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 1, at Carter Funeral Home Oglethorpe Chapel with the Rev. Tim Parrish officiating. Burial will follow in Oglethorpe Memorial Park with military honors.In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that remembrances be sent to Hospice Savannah, P.O.
