Wesley J. Wilson, Jr., 75, of Savonburg Kansas, was called home to glory on Tuesday, January 28, 2014. He passed away at Mercy Hospital ICU in Fort Scott, KS.
He was born on February 16, 1938 to Wesley J. Wilson, Sr. and Willa Mae Sage in Kansas City, Kansas. They both preceded him in death.
He was a loyal member of Harvest Time Holiness Church in Girard, KS where he served as a deacon, song leader, Sunday school teacher, and filled in as service leader and preacher whenever he was needed to. He loved to worship with those of like precious faith. He enjoyed attending revivals, camp meetings, fellowship meetings, and many times drove 100 miles or more to be in worship services with the saints and to hear good holiness preaching from God's word, the Bible.
He served as a Fire Fighter on the K.C.K Fire Department for 25 years, from May 1967 until he retired in April 1992.
He graduated from Wyandotte High School in Kansas City, KS in May 1956 and went on to serve in the United States Navy for four years after graduating High School.
He later met and married Cleta Ann Kelley. She preceded him in death. They had seven children together. He was proceeded in death by his parents Wesley J. Wilson Sr. and Willa Mae Wilson; a daughter, Westina Kay Wilson; a son, Matthew Duaine Wilson; a grandson, Logan Aaron Wilson; a brother, Victor Wilson; and two sisters, Dorothy Carson and Stella Rice.
He is survived by four sons, Wesley, III and his wife Ziomara of Seadrift, TX; Robert of Savonburg; Aaron of Savonburg; and Daniel and his wife Lanetta of Arma, KS; and one daughter, Cleta Diane Sexton and her husband Ken of Parsons, KS. He had many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is survived by five brothers, Pete Wilson of Shawnee, KS; Jim Wilson of Vilonia, AR; John Wilson of Girard; Jesse "Toby" Wilson of Phoenix, AZ; and Tommy Wilson of Arma. Five surviving sisters include, Mary Alice Doan of Franklin, KS; Sheila Murphy of Arma; Sue Marshall of Arma; Annabelle Jones of Franklin; and Willetta "Tudy" Wilson of Parsons.
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 31, 2014 at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home in Girard with Brother Glen Polnack of Mulberry, KS and Brother Bruce Ganze of Bartlesville, OK officiating.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, January 30, 2014 from 6pm-8pm at the Smith-Carson-Wall Funeral Home, where friends may call after 2:00 p.m., Thursday. Burial will be at Mt Moriah Cemetery in Savonburg with Military Honors by the George L. Hendricks Post No. 102, American Legion of Erie, Kansas. Wesley will be buried next to his beloved wife of 45 years and their son Matthew.
