On June 10, 1872 as Juliette Dana, she married Egbert Viele at the home of her father in Manhattan, New York.

Juliette Dana Viele
Juliette Dana Viele, wife of General Egbert L. Viele, died on Monday at her residence, Eighty-eighth Street and Riverside Drive, after a brief illness. Heart trouble was the cause of death. Mrs. Viele, who was the daughter of Richard P. Dana, was born in the family residence on West Fourteenth Street. Her father was one of the old Dana family, notable for intellectual activity. She spoke with fluency all the modern languages and was familiar with the literature of those languages. She was also a skillful musician. She corresponded with Thomas Carlyle and other celebrated writers. A series of interesting translations were made from the German by Mrs. Viele, which have not yet been published. She leaves no children. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 4PM at St. Agnes’s Chapel, Ninety-second Street and Columbus Avenue.
