He enlisted in London, Ontario on Jan 5, 1951.


One of the places that Canadian soldiers saw the most action during the Korean War was in the area around Hill 355, where they defended the front lines and pushed back heavy enemy assaults. On Oct 23, 1952, 16 Canadian soldiers were killed defending Hill 335 and 2 other soldiers succumbing to their wounds the following day. James was one of the Canadians who fell in this action at Hill 355.


He also remembered on the Korean War Wall of Remembrance at Meadowvale Cemetery in Brampton, Ontario and on a family marker at Saint George's Anglican Cemetery in Denfield, Ontario.
