Died, at his home four miles north of Mocksville, on Friday, March 20th, of la grippe, Mr. Alfred Shoemaker, at an advanced age. He was buried at Union chapel the following Sunday. Mr. Shoemaker leaves a helpless widow and three sons to mourn their loss. He had a number of relatives in Iredell county, being a brother of Mr. Pink Shoemaker, of that county, and also a brother of Mr. Dave Shoemaker, of Davidson. Mr. Shoemaker came to Davie county about 40 years ago from Iredell, and married a widow, Mrs. W.C. Gowan.
