Frances B. García, age 64, a long-time resident of Las Vegas, NM, was called by our Lord on Thursday, January 30, 2014 following a lengthy illness.
Frances was preceded in death by her loving parents, Orlando S and Eliza Maés Esquíbel, her sister, Ignacita S. Esquíbel and her infant brother, John Esquíbel.
Frances is survived by her incredible husband of 43 years, Ralph García of the family home, son, Ralph Daniel García and his wife, Rachel and their kids, Alma, Elaine and Emma, son, Abraham García and his fiancée, Danielle and their kids, Lucas and Cambria her daughter, Elizabeth García-Delgado and her husband, Damian and their kids, Isabella and Orlando and lastly, her son, Gabriel, a brother, Orlando Esquíbel and his wife, Audrey and their family and a sister, Ramona Torres and her family all of Albuquerque, NM. Frances has numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces/nephews, cousins, god-children, and close/special friends.
Frances was born on October 29, 1949 in Las Vegas, NM but was raised in Albuquerque.
Frances attended Rio Grande High School. Frances spent most of her summers with relatives and friends in Las Vegas, including her special uncle, Eliseo Esquíbel. Frances moved back to Las Vegas in the late 1960s. Frances met the love of her life and they were united in marriage on August 28, 1970. Frances attended Luna Community College (L.V.T.I.) and worked with numerous doctors in Las Vegas at the hospital and clinics, which she talked about all the time. Her favorite position was working in the OB Ward with Dr. Halverson. Frances and Ralph went on to opening their first restaurant, "La Cocina". They then opened their legendary staple of Las Vegas, "El Rialto" on December 19, 1975. Frances was famous for cooking her favorite dishes, which she shared with the community. Everyone know her for being generous, loving, considerate, compassionate and trustworthy.
Frances was not only the strongest person our family has ever known, but she was hardworking and was a perfectionist with her food.
Frances truly enjoyed vacationing with her family, getting together with her kids, and grandkids and laughing or reminiscing with friends at the El Rialto. Her pride and joy were her kids and grandkids and for her oldest son, Ralph Daniel for pursuing his dream of becoming a Paramedic, Abraham for pursuing his career in music, Elizabeth for becoming a legal secretary and Gabriel for completing his schooling in Graphic Design. Frances was always proud of her kids and their accomplishments. Needless to say, she bragged a lot about her beautiful family, especially her husband for always taking good care of her. Frances will be truly missed by everyone that she came in contact with. Frances was always grateful for her long time doctors, Eileen Madrid and Joseph López.
Services will be held on Monday, February 3, 2014 beginning with a rosary at 10:00 a.m. followed by a special eulogy to be delivered by her longtime friend, Honorable Matthew J. Sandoval. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Father George V. Salazar immediately following the eulogy. The interment of her cremated remains will follow in the family plot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. The family has requested memorials be made to the Building Fund at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, 403 Valencia, Las Vegas, NM 87701.
