Robert Melville Black, 86, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014 at Washakie Medical Center.

Bob was born April 10, 1927 in Worland to Melville A. & Pearl (Clark) Black. He lived on family farm until age 23 when he was called into the service of his country in 1950 and served as a staff sergeant in Korea.

Bob graduated from Worland High School with the class of 1945 and graduated from the University of Montana in 1955. He was employed as an insurance adjuster during his working years. He married Maxine Wostenberg in September 1952. To this union were born a daughter, Leslie Kim, and a son, Steven Robert.

After the death of Maxine, he married Marion Eckerdt Barngrover and moved back to Worland.

He was active in the Worland Methodist Church where his grandmother, Susie Black, was one of the original members. He was a member of the American Legion Post 44, the Photo Club, Worland Senior Center, and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Maxine; his brother, Lewis Black; and step-daughter, Peggy Wolt.

Bob is survived by his wife, Marion; son, Steve of Boulder, Colo.; his daughter, Leslie Kim of Westminster, Colo.; his step-children, James Barngrover (Angela) of Helena, Mont. and Alice McAbee (Randy) of Coppell, Texas. He is also survived by six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; his brother, Richard (Carol) Black of Casa Grande, Ariz. and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
