Obituary for Robert M. Templeton, Muskogee paper
Services for the Rev. Robert M. Templeton, 93, of Muskogee, will be at 10 am Wednesday at Grandview Methodist Church here with a second service at 3 pm Wednesday at Linwood Methodist Church in Oklahoma City.
Burial will be in Rose Hill Cemetery in Oklahoma City directed by Petering Funeral Home of Muskogee.
Mr. Templeton died Monday at Muskogee General Hospital.
He was born in Barling, AR, and was ordained as a Methodist minister in 1910 in Ardmore. He served as a horseback circuit rider for small eastern towns until 1912 when he joined the Indian Mission Conference and served the Kiowa and Comanche Indians.
He attended Hendricks College in Conway AR, and Epworth University, now Oklahoma City University.
He moved to Oklahoma City in 1955 and to Muskogee in 1972.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Nelia Binkley, of Muskogee; a son, Dr. R. M. Templeton, Jr., of Carlsbad, NM; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
