Judy graduated from Ocala High School in 1965; Mercer University, Macon, Ga.; Master in English from the University of Florida. Judy graduated with honors from high school and college. Growing up she loved to play the piano.
In high school Judy was Captain of the Cheerleading Squad; member of Anchor Club; Latin Club; Pep Club; ICC; Sophomore Favorite; Key Club Sweetheart Court; Girls' State; Homecoming Queen Court; Carnival Court; DeMolay Sweetheart; Today's Top Teenager; National Honor Society; Outstanding Ocaleean.
She was crowned Marion County Cattlemen's Sweetheart in May, 1965. At Mercer she pledged Chi Omega in her freshman year.
Judy lived in St. Croix, USVI for almost 40 years & relocated to Aiken, SC in July 2013. She was the Head Mistress of Manor School in St. Croix for 35 years & was an educator all of her adult life. Mrs. Gadd was a member of the American School Principal's Association & American Counseling Association. In March of 2013 she received the prestigious award from the Office of the Governor of the USVI honoring her for outstanding service as an educator & school principal.
She is survived by her husband, Michael Gadd, Aiken, SC; her mother, Marguerite Chappell, Ocala, FL; a daughter, Laurel Gadd and her husband, Michael Pitts, Aiken, SC; two grandchildren, Savannah Gadd and Aiden Gadd Pitts; a sister, Deb Bond, Ocala, FL; two brothers, William V. Chappell, III (Chap), Orlando, FL and Chris Chappell, Ocala, FL.
Her father, William V. Chappell, Jr. and a son, Aaron Klintworth Gadd, preceded Mrs. Gadd in death.
