SIOUX CITY | Louise Anne Bacon Gustafson, 67, of Ponca, Neb., formerly of Sioux City, passed away Thursday, Jan. 30, 2014, at a Sioux City hospital.
Memorial services will be 6:30 p.m. Monday at Salem Lutheran Church in Ponca. Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery at Moorhead, Minn. Visitation will be 6 p.m. Monday, prior to the service, at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel.
Louise was born Sept. 17, 1946, in Moorhead, the daughter of F. Howard and Esther (Baldwin) Bacon. She graduated from Moorhead High School and received her degree from Moorhead State College.
Louise loved her job at Marx Truck Trailer Sales, where she worked as a bookkeeper for 15 years until retirement. She was an avid collector of giraffes and enjoyed doing latch hook, but her greatest love was reading and playing Legos with her grandsons. She enjoyed playing bingo and participating in the other activities at the Elms Care Center where she lived. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Sioux City.
Survivors include her children, Paula and husband, Larry Larsen of Ponca, Neb., and Shane and wife, Kim Gustafson of Oceanside, Calif.; grandsons, Andrew and Jonathan Larsen of Ponca; brothers, Tom and wife, Judy Bacon, Don and wife, Lena Bacon and Dan and wife, Patty Bacon; sister, Vida Bacon; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the MS Society, the Semper Fi Fund, or the Wounded Warrior Project.
