Funeral services for Doris Platt, 87, of Palestine, Texas will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, February 5, 2014, at Bailey & Foster Chapel with Bro. Kerry Pharr and Homer Bentley officiating. Burial will follow in Land of Memory. Arrangements are under the direction of Bailey & Foster. Mrs. Platt passed away Saturday, February 1, 2014, at Trucare Living Center. She was born June 7, 1926 in Jacksonville, Texas to Sherman Sherrill Buffalo and Era Levelle Lasiter Buffalo. She retired from Palestine ISD after eighteen years of service. She was well known for her work in the church, and taught Sunday School at Grace Baptist Church, she loved her Lord and she loved to cook. Mrs. Platt was preceded in death by her parents, husband Otto Platt on February 1, 1999, sister Louise Swink, brothers Raymond, Travis, Wilburn and Sherrell Buffalo, grandchildren Stephen Terry Ewers, Jr. and Jayna Ewers. She is survived by daughters; Jane Goode of Tyler, Lanita Pharr and husband Kerri of Burns, TN, and Melinda DeFore and husband Larry of Palestine, nine grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren.
