Josephine Schaefer, 85, formerly of School Hill died peacefully Friday morning January 31, 2014 at Holy Family Medical Center, Manitowoc. She was born on March 17, 1928 in the Town of Schleswig, daughter of the late Joseph & Theresa (Meyer) Schad. Josephine attended Holy Trinity Catholic School. On May 10, 1950 she was united in marriage to Edwin Schaefer at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in School Hill. Edwin preceded her in death on September 3, 2013.Josephine took great pride in being at home and raising her family. She enjoyed all the time she could spend with them especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She also enjoyed flower gardening, doing needlework, crocheting, sewing, baking and cooking.She was a member of Holy Trinity where she was also active with the Christian Women.

Survivors include her five children; Joan (Dennis) Kabat, New Holstein, Dan (Diana) Schaefer, School Hill, Nancy (Joe) Gnadt, Manitowoc, Gary Schaefer, Manitowoc, Michelle Richter, Appleton, 13 grandchildren; Linda (Joe) Diefenthaler, David (Theresa) Kabat, Sheila & Marcia Kabat, Pamela (Matthew) Scheel, Travis (Megan) Schaefer, Jeremiah (Heidi) Schaefer, Doug, Emily & Greg Gnadt, Tiffany & Tyler Schaefer and Alexandria Richter. She is further survived by 16 great grandchildren, Nicholas, Madeline, Keith, Samantha, Anthony, Brody, Caleb, Evan, Briele, Kasey, Max, Mason, Kameron, Ethan, Ella & Alaina. Josephine is also survived by her brother; Alois Schad, brothers-in-law; Erv Madson, Glenroy (Brenda) Franzen, sisters-in-law; Esther (Bob) Schad, Helen Schad, Erma Ramminger, Delores Schad, Janice Schad along with many nieces, nephews other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband; Edwin, her parents; Joseph & Theresa Schad, brothers and sisters; Frank Schad, Bernard (Dorothy) (Lillian) Schad, Gertrude (Frank) Litz, Norman Schad, Bernadette Madson, Raymond (Alice) Schad, Alfred (Arlene) Schad, Mary (Kenneth) Schmitz, Anita Franzen, Roman Schad, Lillian Schad, infant, Joseph Schad, mother-in-law and father-in-law; Joseph & Anna Schaefer, brothers-in-law; Ervin (Sally) Schaefer, Gilbert (Virginia) Schaefer, Wilfred (Ann) Schaefer, Herman Schaefer, Ambrose Ramminger.

Burial will take place in the parish cemetery.
