Funeral service for Jack Hood, age 82 of Talco, will be on Saturday, February 8, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Grace Baptist Church in Mt. Vernon, TX, with Pastor Tommy Campbell officiating. Burial will follow at Providence Cemetery with Shannon Steen, Clay Penny, Mike Dollins, Duston Wesson, Larry Crow, and Greg Gillette serving as pallbearers. Visitation will be held on Friday, February 7, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Sam B. Harvey Funeral Home.Mr. Hood died on Saturday, February 1, 2014, at his residence. Mr. Hood was born on March 14, 1931 in Arlington, TX. He married Martha Earlyn Finley on February 14, 1953. Mr. Hood was a deacon at Grace Baptist Church and he worked for Bell Helicopter for 27 years. Mr. Hood is survived by his wife, Earlyn, of Talco; a son, Jackie Hood, and wife Genie, of Franklin, County TX; a daughter, Patricia Ann Ritchie, and husband Bobby Mac, of Elk City, OK; a brother, Pat H. Hood, and wife Beverly, of Austin, TX; sisters, Bettye Jane Cole, and husband Martin, of Bryan, TX, and Sallye Ann Robinson, and husband David, of Grand Prairie, TX; 6 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.Mr. Hood is preceded in death by his parents, six brothers and four sisters. In Lieu of flowers the Hood family request that donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
