Mrs. Linda Chambers:
Linda Isabelle (Fry)Frye Chambers, daughter of David and Mary (Settlemoyer)(Fry) Frye, was born in Pottsville, PA July 9, 1867, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Stella Whitmore, in Burlington, Iowa on January 27, 1946, at the age of 78 years, 6 months, and 18 days.
She was married on September 27, 1884, in Knoxville, Marion County, Iowa, to Valentine Chambers who proceded her in death August 3, 1944. To this union nine children were born, all of whom survive. They are William Chambers of Albia, Mrs. Stella Whitmore of Burlington, Eddie Chambers of Knoxville, Earl Chambers of Lacona, Mrs. Jennie Nicholson of Pleasantville, Mrs. Mamie Perry of Newton, Mrs. Vera Nicholson of Clinton, Mrs. Lillie Walter of Knoxville and Helen Chambers at home. Also surviving are a brother Frank (Fry)Frye of Minnesota, a sister Mrs. Jennie Waisner of Nebraska; 28 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Mr. and Mrs. Chambers set up housekeeping on a farm in Marion county and lived their entire married life in the country.
Early in life the deceased was converted and united with the Methodist Church, latter establishing her membership with the church at Marysville where she remained a faithful member until death.
Mrs. Chambers was a modest, kindly woman, devoted to her home and family, and a true friend to all who were in need. Her presence will be greatly missed in the home and community.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2:00 p.m. at the Marysville Methodist Church by the Rev. M.M. Pigg, pastor of the First Christian Church of Knoxville. Burial will be in Marysville Cemetery.
